The Race
JC Motorsports announced the move on its Facebook page over the weekend and called the #54 its iconic Pro Late Model. The team named the Cordele race as the stage for Matthew’s debut behind the wheel of that car.

The Team
Jimmy and Jamie Cox own JC Motorsports, which operates out of the Carolinas. The organization fields Pro Late Models on the CARS Tour and Super Late Models.
Alex Roberts serves as crew chief and also operates AROB Performance Parts & Fuels, one of the two names listed with the announcement. Kaden Honeycutt Racing is the other. Both were credited in the team’s own post.
The #54 has been a front-running car this season. Kaden Honeycutt drives it for JC and has won CARS Tour Pro Late Model races at Caraway Speedway, Ace Speedway, and North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2026, three different tracks in a single year.
The team’s website lists 10 races, eight top 10s, seven top fives, and five wins at the time this article was prepared. Those totals come from the team itself.
The Car and the Track
The CARS Tour is where JC has built the record of the #54. The car that took those wins at Caraway, Ace, and North Wilkesboro now goes to Cordele with Matthew in the seat for his first start with the organization, which puts him in equipment that has already won this season.
Cordele Motor Speedway in Cordele, Georgia, is a track Matthew knows. On August 22 he qualified third and finished second in the Modifieds of Mayhem 50 there, driving the #18 BMF Shocks & Chassis Modified with John Heil as crew chief.
The Pro Late Model is a different car, but the track is the same.
JC Motorsports billed the October 24 event as the Georgia Watermelon Pro Late Model race, and that is the team’s wording for it. Cordele’s October 23 and 24 weekend has also been promoted under the World Crown 300 and SpeedFest banners. Event details will be confirmed here once the track publishes them.
What Matthew Brings
Matthew races out of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. His Modifieds of Mayhem debut came at Montgomery in October 2025, where he took the pole and finished third in the 50-lap feature. The Cordele run in August carried the same shape, a top-three qualifying effort converted into a podium finish.
On November 11, 2025, he won the Modified feature at Houston Motorsports Park on Championship Night and finished runner-up in Pro Truck the same night. In December 2025 he made his Snowball Derby debut with a top-10 finish in the Modifieds and a podium in Pro Truck. Those results came at three tracks in about two months and in two different classes.
He has worked with Right Foot Down Motorsports in Pro Truck, Tom Usry Racing in the Late Model Stock Car division, and BMF Shocks & Chassis in the Modified. Each team handed him a different car and a different set of demands, and that range of seat time is what he carries into the #54. The Cordele debut adds JC Motorsports and the Pro Late Model to that list.
